Megumi was born into a family of musicians in Wakayama, Japan. As a child she  received musical guidance from their parents. In 1987 she moved to Austria, where she studied at 

the Faculty of Music of Vienna (mdw), and in 1998 she finished her master degree.

Megumi studied with Klaus Mätzl at mdw in Vienna, later with Dominika Falger. She received the scholarships from Orford Arts Center Canada and C.M.Ziehrer Foundation Austria and participated in master classes with Max Rostal, Evgenia Tschugaeva, Lorand Fenyves, Georgy Pauk and Ivan Straus.


 As soloist she played Bruch violin Concerto at The Symphony Hall in Osaka when she was 14 years.

Following engagements as a soloist, she performed at the Vienna Festival in 1994, festivals of contemporary music as the Pražské Premiery and Music Forum Hradec Králové 2007, both in the Czech Republic.

In 2009 she joined film shooting for Nodame Cantabile in Vienna, as a violinist of Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Hiroshi Tamaki.

Megumi worked with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra,  Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Norwegian Opera, Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec Kralove(CZ), Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic(SA), Minas Gerais Philharmonic (BRL).

She played under the baton of the Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Simone Young, Alan Gilbert, Krzysztof Penderecki, David Geringas, Antoni Wit, Alexander Lazarev, among others. 

 May 2015 Megumi returned to Japan.

She gave solo recital in Tokyo and Wakayama, playing on Stradivarius “Lord Borwick”.

​In 2016,  Megumi was appointed as Co-Principal second violin at Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra in Mexico.

​Megumi acted as concertmaster with the Ålesund Symphony Orchestra and the Nordrogaland Symphony Orchestra in Norway.

A sought-after chamber musician, she has performed with chamber music ensembles  such as Ålesund string quartet and collaborated with the artists including Markus Wolf, Dejan Mlađenović, Magne Furuholmen.

Recently she has performed piano chamber music including Stravinsky L'Histoire du soldat, Fartein Valen's piano trio, Brahms, Elgar's piano quartet.

Since 2019 she lives in Vienna.
